Nepal Sherpa Association submits feedback on draft constitution

Nepal Sherpa Association submitted feedback on the draft constitution on Tuesday. Association is an  umbrella organization of Sherpa indigenous community across Nepal.

Association in its statement criticised that draft constitution for not being as per the sentiments of existing Interim Constitution 2007. 

Statement further said that Sherpa people will not accept the Constitution that does not guarantee the identity of indigenous peoples as well as the federalism without autonomy and self-rule for indigenous peoples.

The Association also has made demands that the constitution be in consistent with Interim Constitution, Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the agreement made between the indigenous peoples and government in different time as well as the demands made by indigenous peoples, madhesi, Dalits and other minority groups. Association has submitted a total 42-point feedback on the draft constitution.
