Jagat Baram becomes new NEFIN chairman

Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN), the umbrella organization of Indigenous Peoples' organization of Nepal has elected a new working committee under the leadership of Jagat Baram in its Ninth National General Convention held on Dec. 20 in Chitwan. 

Nityananda Tajpuriya was elected the General Secretary, while Mukunda Pahari was elected as the Treasurer.

With an amended statute, NEFIN's existing 13-member Secretariat has been expanded to 21 member. NEFIN will now have one chairman, a general secretary and treasurer, eight vice-chairpersons and 10 secretaries.

Kiran Mukhiya-Sunuwar, Ganesh Lal Thakali, Gobinda Chhantyal, Nabin Roka Magar, Lok Bahadur Dura, Shayam Prasad Mandal, Sonam Lama, Krishna Kumari Sherchan were elected as vice-Chairperson.

Similarly, General convention also elected as secretaries to Ang Pang Sherpa, Gopal Majhi, Dansign Raute, Raj Kumar Bote, Sukhabir Thami, Lakpa Hishe Sherpa, Shantidevi Dhimal, Sukhamati Rajbansi, Sonam Lama Mugali, Shruti and Maya Kumal.
