The Indigenous Peoples´ National Movement, Nepal, (IPsNMN) on Monday announced mass demonstrations across the country to press for identity-based constitution.
The Central Coordination Committee of IPsNMN, meeting took this decision. Spokesperson Dr Om Gurung said indigenous nationalities will hold mass demonstrations on March 10 in Banepa, Kavre.
The National Movement coordinator Padma Ratna Tuladhar, direction Committee members Barshaman Pun, Ashok Rai and Dev Gurung will also hold consultations with businessmen on February 18 to make their protests more effective.
The indigenous nationalities also plan to take part in the mass meeting to be held by 30-party alliance. The front also plans to hold meetings with representatives of the international community.
The National Movement is planning to take out an identity rally on March 6, Dr Gurung said.
As per the announcement, it will hold demonstrations at Birtamod of Jhapa on March 11, Urlabari of Morang on March 12, Dharan of Sunsari on March 13 and Lalbandi of Sarlahi and Nijgadh of Bara on March 14. It plans to hold identity rally and mass meeting in Hetauda on March 15.
