Subba is renowned film maker in Nepal. He hails from Limbu Indigenous Community. He had started his career as director in plays for theatre. His play had won the 'Best Play of the Year' from Royal Nepal Academy in 1988. Subba also pursued his parallel career in journalism, and worked as correspondent for weekly Nepali Awaj (1989-1992), daily Nepali Patra (1992-1994) Deshanter Weekly (1994-1997) and worked as the Editor of monthly Rup Rang Entertainment (1994-1995) and of Nepathya Theater Magazine in 1995. He continues to contribute articles to different newspapers and magazines. Numafung is one of half dozen films that he directed, had been blockbuster film in Nepali film industry, which portrayed a typical practice of Limbu indigenous community.
